The German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge event will be held on Fort Knox April 20-22. The GAFPB is a decoration of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany and may be awarded to US soldiers who successfully complete the requirements. The GAFPB is one of the few foreign awards authorized to be worn on the Army Service Uniform.

The GAFPB consists of five events – 100 meter swim, First Aid/CBRN test, track and field, pistol qualification, and a 12K road march, executed over the course of a single weekend. Event standards are outlined in Annex 1 of OPORD 18-41. Soldiers and contracted SROTC Cadets, with more than six months of military service, are eligible to participate. Interested soldiers must have a passing DA 705, dated no earlier than Oct. 1, 2017, and must meet Army height/weight standards. Administratively flagged soldiers are not eligible to participate. Soldiers must receive command approval, documented on the GAFPB registration form, in order to participate. Registration forms must be submitted to the OIC or NCOIC, via email, no later than April 1.

Training dates are as follows:

3 to 6:30 p.m., March 15 - Track and Field Training at Natcher Gym

3 to 6:30 p.m., March 22- Swim Training and Medical/CBRN Review at Gammon Gym

3 to 6:30 p.m., April 5 - Swim Training and Medical/CBRN Review at Gammon Gym

3 to 6:30 p.m., April 6 - Lee Pistol Range (must bring own 9mm ammunition)

Execution dates are as follows:

5 p.m., April 20 - 100m Swim at Gammon Gym

7 a.m. to 1 p.m., April 21 - Medical/CBRN Testing, Track and Field, and Pistol Qualification at Natcher Gym and Lee Pistol Range

7 a.m. to noon, April 22 - 12K Ruck March, starting and ending at Human Resources Command (Bldg. 5)
