Calvary soldiers visit Heartland Elementary for career day

Soldier receives a message from home through a tree

Specialist Brien Brockway, weapons team leader, Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, picks out a Christmas tree from one of the 400 donated to the Soldiers and Families of Fort Knox on Dec. 6. About 108 trees were donated from Wahmhoff Farms in Gobles, Mich., Brockway’s hometown. 'When we were told where the trees were going, it was excellent especially knowing Brien Brockway was down there,' said Betsy Wahmhoff-Perales, executive secretary for Wahmhoff Farms. 'It made it more personable knowing that we can be a part of something where we’re giving some of their Christmas spirit and Christmas joy back to them, we love it.' For many service members the holidays are often spent away from their families because of training, deployments or because they are stationed where going home for such occasions are not always feasible. During these times Families, friends and even communities tend to send tokens and mementos to remind their service members they are thinking of them and appreciate all they do in serving their country. ....MORE External Link
Duke Brigade honors Medal of Honor recipient
Sgt. Kandi Huggins; Because of Spc. Ross McGinnis’ heroism and selflessness, which saved four men from certain serious injury or death, Tom and Romayne McGinnis, along with Lt. Col. William Jacobs and Command Sgt. Maj. Victor Fleek, command team for 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, unveil a memorial mannequin of McGinnis during a dedication ceremony at the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team Headquarters, Dec. 7. While deployed to Adamiyah, Iraq, McGinnis saved the lives of four fellow Soldiers by taking most of the impact from a grenade that had entered their vehicle. Along with the unveiling, the ceremony honored McGinnis with the Medal of Honor and rededicated the company operations facilities in his tribute. “Throughout history every generation looks at the next generation with great trepidation. They wonder if they can trust the next generation to do the hard right over the easy wrong,” said Lt. Col. Duke Soldiers Conduct Unique Career Opportunity at Fort Sill

The Duke Soldiers went to Fort Sill to assist the 75th Fires Bde. by offering them maneuver elements for their certification as they prepared for an upcoming deployment. “This exercise was a great opportunity to bring and work all fire support assets,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Carlos Soto, 75th Fires Bde. 'It was a great way to work in light artillery from the artillery in support of the infantry maneuver element.' Soldiers from A Battery, 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment and T Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, demonstrated the power of combined arms operations during a collaborated training exercise with 75th Fires Brigade, 1st Inf. And at one point was strictly forbidden in the Roman Empire, leaving doctors and medical personnel to learn various procedures and conduct experiments on apes. HCS honors distinguished alum

Bollinger III makes a few remarks after being named one of the 2012 Hardin County School’s Distinguished Alumni. The event took place at the Historic Downtown Theater on Aug. 30. Bollinger, a 1987 North Hardin High School graduate was honored at the event for his distinguished military career after graduating from the Hardin County School system.Hardin County Schools hosted a Distinguished Alumni Luncheon, Aug. 30, at the Historic State Theater in downtown Elizabethtown. Duke Brigade holds week-long Ranger assessments
