Counseling

The professional ACES Education Center counselors provide career, academic, and vocational/technical counseling to assist Soldiers to grow professionally and progress toward the achievement of their own personal goals. The counselors provide an initial inprocessing orientation for newly assigned Soldiers to create an awareness of the educational programs available at Fort Knox.

Counselors will assist in establishing short/long range goals to achieve the Soldier's established Army career and civilian education goals. Counselors will discuss these goals, schedule appropriate testing, and provide test interpretation. Whether the goal is to obtain a high school equivalency diploma, raise the general technical score for the Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT), or obtain a post-secondary certificate or degree, the counselor can provide the necessary guidance.

Counseling and class enrollment are all part of the educational process. The counselor will also recommend appropriate classes and assist with class enrollment procedures.

The Soldier For Life Transition Assistance Program (SFLTAP) is designed to assist Soldiers leaving the military service to transition to a civilian school/college or to the civilian job market. Another important facet of the counseling process takes place when the Soldier is referred by SFLTAP for ETS counseling.
